Zondag naar huis!/Homeward bound on Sunday!

Morgen al. Mogen we naar huis! Wat betekent dat het goed gaat met Quinn! Hij is echt weer de oude qua humeur. Het lopen gaat ook steeds beter. Zo nu en dan staat hij nog wat wiebelig op zijn benen, maar dat gaat vanzelf over. De thuiszorg staat vanaf zondag paraat om ons op medisch vlak te ondersteunen. Alle spullen zitten al in twee doosjes. Ja, er komt nog heel wat bij kijken. Quinn zal tot 18 maart penicilline krijgen via het infuus. Wij hebben er een goed gevoel bij. Het infuus zit goed. We zijn volledig op de hoogte van wat er allemaal moet gebeuren. Quinn heeft geen echte last van het infuus. En hij is wat sterker, waardoor hij meer kan dragen. Want we hopen dat als we alles in een leuk rugzakje doen, hij het bij zich kan dragen als hij wat wil wandelen. We will see! Morgen dus inpakken, schoonmaken in het Ronald Mc Donald huis en dan lekker naar het Jaagpad in Rijswijk!

HOMEWARD BOUND

This morning for the first time in weeks Quinn had real shoes on, this and the fact that we packed all clothes and toys and took down the great collection of ‘Get Well ‘ cards made Quinn very aware that something was going to happen…. We could see that he was excited, but that he also was a somewhat guarded, presumably he doubted the flavour of the change to come. At the end of the morning in pouring rain we left the hospital, LUMC, with Quinn, after sorting out some minor logistical issues, mainly due to the wrong telephone numbers that had been provided between medical staff. Clearly the theme of communication is prevalent during this hospital period of Quinn…He is still a bit wobbly on his feet, that will change in the coming days. We have been supplied with all sorts of plasters, tubes, connectors and bandages to enable Quinn to have an active IV drip untill 18  March. The impression had been given that Quinn would be able to carry his penicillin with a battery supported pump on his back, obviously this equipment has been developed for older children and adults. It is simply too bulky and heavy for Quinn, so he drags it around with him as a medieval prisoner with a chained ball…;-) Quinn started shouting when we arrived home and now he has to get used to only his parents as source of attention. He gave us lots of hugs and his appetite improved as well.
